What is the video about? The video is about a strategy to graduate from Liberty University Online with a BS in Business Administration in one year, which normally takes 4-6 years and costs around $50,000. The speaker explains how to hack the degree by taking advantage of credits earned from external sources like CLEP, DSST, Sophia, StraighterLine, Prior Learning Portfolio, and cheapest quickest college courses, and how to meet the specific requirements for General Education and Major courses. The speaker also mentions the option to waive some courses by transferring in over 30, 60, or 45 credits, and using the in-house ICE exam for Bible 104.

Normally, graduating liberty university online takes adults about four to six years and costs about fifty thousand dollars, but, based on what i’m going to show you today, you should be able to graduate for about 13 000 and within one year. Essentially, the information i’m going to be sharing with you today is very similar to the kind of stuff i would go over with somebody in a one-on-one consultation if they too, wanted to graduate from liberty university in a year, particularly if they wanted to focus on the Bachelors of science and business administration, which is the the degree that i’m going to be using as an example and as you can see with the degree here, there’s 120 credits required a lot of different things are going on. So let’s get busy. This is basically the kind of document that i would send somebody in a consultation, so they could follow along as we talk about what the plan is going to look like, and this is a really good snapshot picture of how this works. Basically, every degree is made up of three parts, as you can see.
On the right hand, side general education is going to be a lot of your first and second year stuff, and there are a lot of ways to you know: earn that credit outside of the classroom through cleps or third-party courses, because these classes are so ubiquitous and Used so often you’re not going to have a lot of trouble hacking these then you have the major courses, which are the courses that you’re there to actually really learn from. So you can do your job better or get the job that you want like those are. The courses that prove that, yes, you can be hired for the job you’re looking for then you have the free electives and the free electives can literally be any course out there and that’s a really good place to earn credit non-traditionally and to try to hack your Degree now you can see on the left hand side. I have a list of a lot of the different places i like to pull credit from when i’m helping somebody hack a degree so you’ve got. You know a couple really standouts.
There are cleps dssts sofia straighterline the couple underneath straighter line prior learning portfolio credit are about getting credit for things you already know or have certifications in and then, as you can see at the bottom, some courses you’re just going to have to take as a college Course at your college, but the trick is to use the cheapest quickest ones from the left-hand column to earn the requirements in the right-hand column. So let’s go ahead and start with the general education. This column right here are all the specific requirements that they want. You to fulfill like they want you to know something about comp and rhetoric or composition, rhetoric, information, literacy, math, christian life, critical thinking, theology stuff like that, you can see. I pulled those right from this column on the degree plan.
Now. Some of these things can only be taken as one course so. I’Ve highlighted those in black you’ve got english 101 univ, religion, bible and theo, and those are all courses that have to be specifically taken, as that course the third column is the number of credits. Each is worth, and the fourth column is how our hypothetical person earning this degree is going to earn those credits. So i’ll give a couple of examples here, you can see that english 101 liberty accepts the clep for college composition as a requirement for english 101.
So if you go to liberty site, we see we need english 101. We go to the clep page that they have here’s college composition, it transfers in as english 101 boom and that’s going to be. Actually, that’s going to be six credits and we’ll put three more of those credits – those extra three down here, so we figured out the first one comms 101, there’s not a clep for that and we’d rather not take it as a course. But thankfully sophia has a comms 101 option that transfers into lu as comms 101, and that would be their public speaking course, so we go ahead and put that in there business 201. Unfortunately, there’s no way to test out of that.
So we have to take the course, and we kind of continue doing this down the line. There are a few exceptions here, notice in particular that the information literacy elective could really be a lot of different courses. This is not shaded black, so we have to go and look to see what courses lu will accept to fulfill the information literacy elective and once we see those we see which ones can be. You know clapped or sofia or something like that, and then we figure out which one we want to do and for this hypothetical person it was us history, one. There are a few that are a little bit unique here, uh if you transfer in over 30 credits, which, if you do all of your clepping and dss teen and sophian before you apply, then that counts.
You could waive this. If you have 30 plus credits, you can waive this if you have 45 plus – and you can waive this if you have 60 plus so basically, you need to earn 60 non-traditional credits before you apply to luo and then those three classes will be waived and they’ll. Just be turned into free electives, otherwise you’ll probably have to just take those courses because there’s no way to actually like hack them. The only other notable item here is an ice exam, which is an in-house test that liberty offers so for bible 104. There’S there’s not a clep test for bible or you know any other option, but liberty will let you use.
You know, take a test at the school that could potentially let you skip that class if you score high enough, so we’ll use the ice exam there. Next, let’s move on to the major area, and there are some things you should know about major areas at liberty, a couple of good questions to ask advising counselors or if you can find them on the website, that’s even better, but notice that 30 hours must be Upper level and usually major areas require more upper level courses, and so this you might not even have to worry about this, just based on what courses they require, but some schools don’t require enough major courses and you have to fill them up in the free electives. So, just something to keep in mind: 25 percent of major must be taken through liberty. So a quarter of this major has to be actual courses, and then 30 credits overall must be completed through liberty, because majors are typically the hardest parts to hack, because the courses are so unique and specific to that major like there’s just not clep exams that are Widely applicable to it degrees or even really business degrees. So when it comes to planning your major area, you basically just for the most part, should buckle in and be ready to take the actual courses there and because liberty requires that you take 30 credits through the school.
Most of that will come through your major as you can see i’ve. I’Ve listed several that have to be taken as a course accounting. 370. There’S no hacking option. I know of business 303, business 320, all the rest of these, and because you still need 30 credits.
That means that you need at least two more courses taken through the school and and based on. You know this hypothetical person that i’m coaching’s needs and their preferences. I we just decided that these would be the ones to round up that 30. As for the rest of the major area, these courses were all covered in the general education section by other courses. These are taken sophia, straighter line, another ice exam, a dsst test, and just like, so you can see how i one for one this with dsst.
This is uh 342 business, 342 human resource management. So let’s go to the dsst page and we’re just going to search 342 and there we go human resource management. There’S a dsst literally named that and that will transfer in nicely to fill that requirement. We fill these last two with claps and all of a sudden, your major area is ready to go typically, it’s best practice to start by planning the major area and then work backwards towards the gen eds and then do the free electives. Just because you want to start with the thing, that’s most tricky and has the most specific requirements, and then finally, we get to plan the free electives, which is the easiest part uh.
In this case, we we already have three credits from that very large clep test. We did earlier modern states if you take their courses, will pay for eight clep exams for you. So for this person who’s wanting to save money, i recommended you know round that out make these other three clep exams, but then you’ll notice that to fill the rest of the degree any option may apply and that’s because free electives are so good. We’Ve done all the upper levels, we need. We’Ve done all the the courses that have to be taken through liberty itself, which is often called a residency requirement and now to fulfill it.
We can literally put anything in there any kind of sofia, clap straighter line. Transfer credit experience, credit alex credit, fema credit, anything, but wait, there’s more and i actually do mean it. Basically, at a school like liberty, that’s an online school focused on attracting adult students, they recognize and a lot of other schools like them. Do too that you are coming in with a lot of work and life experience, and so a lot of times they will give you college credit for things. You already know, which is a really good deal for you, because it could mean that you just show up – and you already have college credit before you’ve, taken a single course or not counting any of your cleps and sofias.
So what i would recommend that, if you know if you were going to take a plan like this, when you apply to luo, ask them hey? How do i, you know, get college credit for life experience, they’ll coach, you through that process and then you can just go through and say: oh, you know, i know something about financial accounting. They actually just gave me that credit. So i don’t have to take the sofia course for it, or they gave me international business credit because i run an international business or something, and so i don’t have to take that course. You still have to take 30 courses.
30 credits through liberty, which means you’ll, have to take a different course, but you don’t have to take that specific one. So, overall, that’s a really really good way to speed up this whole process even more. If you have that life experience so you’re, probably looking at all of this and feeling like a little bit overwhelmed, that’s a lot of information. You had a lot of links and pages open and it took you hours to do this and that’s because consultations like this are something that i offer and that’s something that i enjoy doing, but i will say all of this information. Well.
Most of this information is free and available with quick, google searches. If you know what you’re looking for and a lot of the rest of the information you can usually pick up by contacting the school and calling their admissions or their advising office, sometimes their registrar office knows more than the other two. So earning a liberty university degree for thirteen thousand dollars in one year is totally something that you can do on your own. I hope that this video helps you in that process. If you are looking for somebody to help guide you through this one-on-one help, you pick a major a college, the clep exams.
