The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) has been honored with high praise in the recent rankings published by the online educational resource, Fortune Education.
Fortune Education’s list of Best Accelerated Online MBA Programs placed USM at the 20th position nationwide. The ranking considered programs that necessitate 36 or fewer course credits for graduation.
Dr. Bret Becton, Dean of USM’s College of Business and Economic Development, stated, “This esteemed ranking reflects the tireless efforts and commitment of our faculty, staff, and most importantly, our extraordinary students. We are devoted to delivering an innovative and transformative educational journey that arms our graduates with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the fast-paced business world.”
Becton further added, “This acknowledgment validates our dedication to excellence and fuels our ambition to persistently push the envelope, embrace change, and cultivate a community of progressive leaders. We view this accomplishment as a stepping stone towards more significant achievements as we aim to mold the future of business education.”
USM has indefinitely waived the requirement for GMAT or GRE scores for all applicants to the online MBA program, although they will be considered if included in an application. International students are required to submit TOEFL scores. The average undergraduate GPA for incoming students last year was 3.3, and the acceptance rate for the university’s online program stood at 87.5%.
Currently, USM’s online MBA program boasts over 130 students, and the University recorded a one-year retention rate of 87.4% in 2022. A recent comprehensive curriculum revision has reduced the required credits for graduation from 33 credit hours to 30 credit hours.
Fortune Education also highlighted a list of 10 Online MBA Programs that Cost Less Than $16,000. USM secured the 8th position nationally, with an approximate cost of $14,700 to complete the program for both in-state and out-of-state students. A total of 30 course credits are required for graduation.
The application process does not require a GMAT or GRE score but does require three letters of recommendation.
Dr. Steven Stelk, MBA Program Director, commented, “Our MBA program provides students with the flexibility to dictate the pace of their degree completion and offers excellent value compared to similar programs. Our faculty and staff have put in tremendous effort to create a valuable online experience for our students, and we are continually enhancing it. It’s rewarding to see the fruits of our labor recognized in these recent rankings.”
